Alex Attacks!
Event number 3 in the Ceta Form Time Trial League was the 10-mile route from Roecliffe lane to Dishforth roundabout and back.
The weather was mild with a quite a strong northeast wind making it tough on the way up to Dishforth but fast on the return leg.
24 riders signed on from Harrogate Nova, Moonglu and Harrogate Tri Club. The majority of riders were on TT bikes, with only 5 on road bikes.
It was certainly the night for the time trial specialists. The hugely talented Alex Beldon of Moonglu dipped under 20 minutes and took the win in 19:59. Ben Pease (Moonglu) was 2nd in 20:35 with James Beagley (Nova) 3rd in 21:00.
Nova rider, Andrew Wild was 1st in the road bike category in 23:35 with Paul Jones (Nova) in 2nd in 27:32 and Iain Wallace (Moonglu) 3rd in 28:04.
Jo Wallace (Moonglu) was 1st lady in 29:40 on a road bike.
Tom Bromiley broke the schoolboy record and also won the Jowett Cup for the most improved rider verses last year. James Beagley broke the junior record. Unfortunately, Chris Mawer DNFd, suffering a puncture.
Thanks, as always to the volunteers: Vaughan & Margaret Caswell, Caroline Mullier, Mike Cross and Pete Ackroyd for signage/marshalling; not forgetting Duncan Mullier for producing the results.
Next week’s event is the Pennypot 12-miler, starting near the Army Apprentice College.
