Mullier takes the win!

Event number 3 in the Beech House Dental Practice Time Trial League was the Roecliffe-Dishforth 10-miler. A new course last year, the route takes riders from Bar Lane near Roecliffe, turning left and heading north on the A168 to Dishforth, turning at the roundabout and heading back south to finish at the layby just past Roecliffe Lane, on the A168.
The weather was cool with a moderate wind from the west. There had been intermittent rain during the day and halfway through the event, there was a little drizzle.
21 riders signed on from Harrogate Nova, Moonglu and Harrogate Tri Club. With it being a fast and relatively flat course, the majority of riders like last week were on TT bikes, with only 6 on road bikes.
The first 3 men were separated by less than 39 seconds: Duncan Mullier (Nova) was 1st in 22:14, setting a new vets record. In 2nd place was Joe Turnbull (Nova) in 22:42, setting a junior record. In 3rd place was Roger Bromiley (Nova) in 22:53. All 3 riders were on TT bikes. In 4th place was Tom Rowlay (Nova) in 23:18, on a road bike – a very impressive time. 6 seconds later was Rob Senior (Nova) who set a vets road bike record and also takes the Jowett Cup for the most improved rider from last year. No ladies competed.
Thanks as always to the support team who enable each event to take place – timekeepers, number-takers, signage and marshals. A particular thanks go to Margaret and Vaughan Caswell, Caroline Mullier, Kevin Nichols and Richard Salden. Please contact Duncan Mullier if you are able to help in any way, for future events.
Next week’s event is the Pennypot 12-mile time trial. It’s a hilly course and may suit those on road bikes. Pictured is Duncan Mullier in action. Pictures courtesy of Sarah Jane Swinscoe of www.sarahbehindthelens.co.uk.
