2018 Summer Cross Wednesday 20th June

Post by duncan » Tue Jun 05, 2018 7:17 pm

Wed 20th June Summer Cyclo-Cross Killinghall Moor Country Park

Once again Harrogate Nova are promoting a round of the YCCA summer league at Killinghall Moor. This is always a popular round of the series and we have deliberately held it on the rest week of the TT series so you can come along , try cyclo-cross and help.

The races are 6:45 pm under 8’s 7:00pm U14’s and 7:30 Over 14’s

We need the following assistance

2pm -5 pm Set up of the course. Ted and I will be there earlier marking out the route but we need about 4 people to help set up the stakes and put the tape up as well as other course work

5:30-7:15. We need 3 people on registration , this could be on a rota basis so that you can watch offspring race .

6pm-8:30 we need 6 Marshall’s, again these will be on a rota basis so that you can race Probably 6-7 and 7- 8:30 But we need Marshall’s from when practice laps start to warn members of the public and there are couple of path crossing points .

8:30pm-9:00 or straight after the last rider. We need to clear up the course, riders will help but the more that do this the quicker it happens, i don’t want to find the last field hasn’t been cleared as it getting dark as happened one year.

Please Volunteer even if only for an hour, as promoting these events helps with the standing of the club and allows those who race to enter other races. Please either pm me or send an e-mail to me at dormiceuk@yahoo.co.uk

Cheers

Tim

Sorry, but I forget this bit..

I might just add that after the main race if everyone watching or racing can:

1 Remove tape from pegs.
2 Then gather up a few pegs, a place them in a pile.(we can pick up from all over the fields).
3 If rolling up tape find a helper as it's a way, way faster job with two people. One to reel in the tape the other to put some tension on the tape so it reels up nicely ready for the next race.
Ted.

Hi Rich

You can race on any bike you want within reason, plenty of 29ers in the pack yesterday even some 26ers. All I would suggest is that unless it chucks it down all June I wouldn't have too aggressive a tyre.

Look forward to seeing you on the day

Cheers

Thank you for all those who have offered help, we could still do with a few more so please turn up on the day.

We are aiming to start setting up in the field furthest from the changing rooms then work backwards. (it's a pegs issue). So if you turn up and can't see anyone either walk into the field the kids do the training in or park in the car park off Youngs Drive and you will see us. Someone will be there from 12:00

Look forward to seeing lots of you there helping and racing.

under 8's 6:45 pm born 2010 or later

Under 14's 7pm Born 2004-2009

Over 14's 7:30 born before 2004

Entry fees: (including chip timing in all races): U14 £3, U16 £5, Juniors £7, Senior/Vet £10. Please make sure you bring the correct change. All organisers and helpers are volunteers and it will make the event run a lot smoother if you bring the exact money. Day licence fees will apply to those in the Junior Category and above who do not have a valid British Cycling Race membership.

Hi All

Just to say thank you to everyone who helped out on Wednesday, there are too many to thank individually , but the fact we had the ground cleared by 9.15 says it all. Another excellent Nova production with good feedback from all involved.

We first ran this race in 2010 and there were no Nova jerseys in the U14 race, so it was really good to see so many Nova jerseys in this race as well as a few younger riders in the O14 race in Nova Jerseys as well as a few more mature Nova riders. Thanks to all the coaches for making this happen and the parents for coming along and helping.

I promise to agree suitable dates with Dave Morris next year so we don't have 2 big events on the same week

Cheers

Tim
