Dear All,

Comments have been made about the club run & how it can be reinvigorated.

Down South they have this idea that seams to work quite well.

Each week, or in our case twice a month, a member nominates a route; for example: Harrogate,Greenhow, (Pick up the Pateley Bridge boys),Burnsal, Cracoe, Hetton, Gargrave, (Cup of tea) Broughton, Elsack, Lothersdale, Cononley, Low Bradley, Addingham, Ilkley, Askwith, Swinsty, (Pately Bridge Boys take a left.) Beckwithshaw, Harrogate.

They are then 3 groups who ride at differing paces. Group 1 18 mph average, Group 2 16mph average & Group 3 14 mph average.

You ride with which droup you want to.

All groups meet at the same time set off together, first 5 miles, then they separtae out into their own groups.

Meet up again at the tea room.

Group 1 & 2 then generally complete the ride.

Group 3 will usually work out a way to short cut the ride and head back home.

This has been operating for 3 years to my knowledge & the rides are well supported, sometimes 60 riders!

The pace is maintained by a nominated group leader, who tells people to drop back & be picked up by the group behind, if they can't hold the agreed pace or if it is being pushed too hard they ask the culprits to moderate the pace.

It will need time to develop, but it could work.

Just a variation on the idea that Duncan was putting forward.

Cheers.
