Saturday Structured group ride 9th April

Saturday Structured group ride 9th April

Post by Ted » Thu Apr 07, 2016 6:06 pm

Alison has asked me to run the group ride this Saturday so I’m going to propose a nice 2 hour steady, flat (pre-Scotton) ride with optional café stop in Boroughbridge for anyone man or woman enough to manage about half a kilo of butter on their tea cake. Route will be:
9:15 Texeco Knaresborough
Ferrensby
Arkendale
Great Ouseburn
Aldwark Bridge
Linton-on-Ouse
Tollerton
Flawith
Helperby
Thorton Bridge
Boroughbridge (café)

I might pop along on my CX bike and have a sniff of the off road section at Aldwark to see if it is solid or colloidal this year.

Stop fretting about a bit of non-tarmac, it'll be fine

For info recc'ed the east section of Scotton 100 route last week & the off road sections round Aldwark/Helperby are very wet & muddy & the section parallel to the 168 is particularly thorny.... of course.

Also, I'm afraid to report that the first half of sector 4 has been tarmacked and that all the pot holes from Burnt Yates through to sector 3 have been filled in courtesy of the TDY. Sorry about that. I can empty my green waste recycling bin over the road instead if you like? There are a load of hawthorn cuttings in it at the moment.

This is all way beyond the remit of my forthcoming book "The relative merits of tarmacadam surfaces in the north of England". You should be there with us Dave you big bloody jessy.
