Social Club Run Sunday 20th September

Post by FranV » Wed Sep 16, 2015 11:15 pm

Heading to: Knaresborough, Little Ribston, Cowthorpe, Tockwith, Wetherby, Spofforth
Terrain: Flat
How Far: 30 ish Miles,
Stops: Wetherby
Approx Av Speed: 15 mph
When: Ready to Ride 9:30 am, Sunday 20th September
Meeting Point: Empress Pub

Feel free to just turn up but if you can post to give me an idea of numbers that is always helpful!

For those who haven't been on these social club runs the format is as follows:
We ride in a chain gang (the variation we will do is sometimes called a slow chain as it is not continuously swapping).

The captain helps everyone to regulate the speed and remind us all when to switch the chain. This a really sociable way of riding as you get to ride and talk with different people as you progress round the chain.

For anyone who hasn't ridden like this before don't worry the cap'n will explain it before we set off. These are social rides where we will be riding as a group as much as possible, so remember, keep any ideas of training for another time!

I'll probably bring Matthew and take him home if it's too much. Caroline will also be coming.

I can't join the ride tomorrow as I'm on entertainment duty but this is going to entail a ride out with my 7 year son James. We'll be setting of earlier on the same route so as & when you go flying past us it's sure to give him a little motivational boost.

Have a good ride
Cheers Rob

Thanks all, really enjoyed the Sunday Social ride.

I now have one seriously chuffed James here who loved his first group ride experience. He's now angling for a Nova top for his b'day and asking when he can go out again - he's hooked after his first 40+ mile ride!!

Thanks again

Cheers Rob (and a tired but satisfied James)

I take my 12 year old out for his first club ride and he wasn't even the youngest. Well ridden James!

Just the thing after a long and arduous season.

I have quite a few pictures of hedges if anyone is interested.
