Nova Juniors – Summer update

Its been a busy few months of summer racing for the Nova Juniors who have been excelling in events throughout the region.

Stand out performances and results include:

Scarborough Cycle Festival

Several juniors took part in the cyclocross race which was part of the Scarborough Cycle Festival. On an extremely hot day all riders out in very impressive performances.

U10s

– Mark Ketteringham 3rd
– Charlie Hobson 5th

U16s
– Ben Jacklyn 2nd.

The half mile hill climb proved to be very popular with both children and parents participating.

It is also worth mentioning the local rider Joe Turnbull put in a very impressive performance in the National Closed Circuit Championships coming 4th.

Thursday White Rose Youth League

Five of the Juniors have been taking part in the Thursday White Rose Youth League throughout the summer. The league consists of a number of races taking part on closed circuits at both the York Sport and the Brownlee Track. Races are between 5 and 8 miles.

Other events and stand out performances:

Mark Ketteringham took part in the British Cycling Regional Freewheel Grasstrack Championships on the 16th July at Roundhay Park. Consisting of an Omnium type event, riders had to do a 1 lap sprint, individual pursuit and 2 lap scratch race. Mark put in brilliant performance on the night to win two of the three events in his category giving him the U10s Championship title.

It’s fantastic to see the continued focus and dedication from the Juniors delivering such great results, especially in hotly contested events…. keep it up Juniors!
