Nova Junior Fly the Flag and Event 10

On Sunday 17th June several of the Nova youth and junior members took part in the Great Yorkshire Bike ride. Alex Halmshaw, Jack Thomas, Charlie Lehan, James Beagley, Mark and Hannah Ketteringham all successfully completed the 72 miles from Wetherby to Filey. A fantastic achievement by all. James and Mark, both 9 were the youngest competitors to complete the course on the day.

On the 24th June 3 Nova juniors Magnus and Cormac Denwood and Mark Ketteringham took part in the British Schools cycling association regional and national under 9s Grasstracks championships. The event was made up of three races. Firstly a one lap race, followed by a 2 lap pursuit race and the finishing with a 2 lap scratch race. All boys rode strongly Mark Ketteringham taking the silver medal in both completions and Magnus and Cormac taking 5th and 6th place.

Event 10 of the Beech House Dental Practice TT League was a 16 mile technical loop of Arkendale Lane End to the A59 to Green Hammerton to Aldborough and back. Series winner, Nova’s Duncan Mullier, took his tenth win in 34:53, but teammate Rob Senior improved his chance of finishing second overall by pipping Patron’s Glen Turnbull by 4 seconds in 35:32. The men’s road category is looking less clear cut than it was with Simon Ketteringham taking the win over Edwin Stokes by 7 seconds with 37:32. The women’s overall series is again being dominated by 2016 champion Corinne Mitchell who’s 40:33 was 2:12 ahead of former champion Alison Sarmiento.
