Win for Team Swift’s Wareham in Nova Open TT

Win for Team Swift’s Wareham in Nova Open TT
Ladies winner Ele Haresign sets off

Spring may have finally sprung, but there were cold and windy conditions awaiting the riders who took to the start line for the Harrogate Nova Open 24 mile TT this afternoon. The two lap course, starting just outside of Ripon, taking in Kirby Hill and Dishforth provided an excellent test.

In the ladies event, Alison Kinloch, PH-MAS Cycling, set the early pace with a time of 1:07:16, closely followed by Nova’s Alison Sarmiento with 1:10:18.  However ride of the afternoon and top honours went to Eleanor Haresign, Harrogate Nova, winning in a time of 1:05:45.

The men’s event was a closely fought contest, with Team Swift making a podium clean sweep with Alastair Wareham beating team mate Joel Wainman to the win in a time of 53:24. Wainman’s time of 54:38 placed him one step higher on the podium than Mark Wolstenholm in third with 55:29.

Back at Sharrow Cricket Club, event HQ, riders, helpers, volunteers and marshalls were treated to a delicious spread of cakes, courtesy of Harrogate Nova members.

Speaking after the event, organiser Duncan Mullier thanked Prologue Performance Cycles for their sponsorship, and for all the support from club members in delivering another excellent event.

The Beech House Dental Practice Evening TT League starts at the end of April, with the next Nova Open TT scheduled for September.
