Monday 6th May - Moderate Ride

Post by AlisonSarmiento » Sat May 04, 2013 5:58 pm

Ted and I are planning a moderate ride on Monday which is essentially today's route but in reverse - yes that means going UP Park Rash! :o

How about a 9.45 start from Knaresborough (Texaco on Boroughbridge Road) and a 10am pick up at POW roundabout? The route would broadly be Beckwithshaw, Duck Street, Grassington, Kettlewell, Middleham, Masham, Ripon, Knaresborough (I think this is right, I've borrowed Rick's route from today and written it in reverse but you get the plan)

Sounds good Alison. I can not commit just yet but will post yes or no when I know.

I will be at PoW at 10-00. See you there. You can download a GPX track file from here for a Garmin 800 if you want. Use a TCX for 500.

I did pretty much the same route on friday, with Langbar added in. Park Rash from that side was horrible, but the 10 mile descent into Middleham actually makes it worth it!

Have a great day, the weather is looking good I think :)

I've never actually been up Park Rash, only down so I'm hoping not to be too mentally scarred from the experience Dave!

i'm too shattered to do another ride tomorrow. Did an 80 mile ride with some friends to Hebden via Duck Street and came back through Appletreewick, Barden Bridge, Bolton Abbey, up the Langbar climb and down to to Ilkley and then back the usual route through to Kirkby Overblow. 6,200 feet of climbing. Very cold over the tops past Stump Cross but great cafe at Hebden. Enjoy your ride tomorrow.

Thank you to Neil and John for joining us today. It was a great ride and such a treat to ride in the sunshine.

Park Rash was tough but not as bad as I'd imagined based on my descent of the same climb on the Chemo. A really enjoyable ride. Thank you.
