Re: Nova Mini Tour weekend to Whitby - 15/16 Sept 2012
guys, so far i have 5 yes's and the rest have not responded.
I have called whitby YHA, they have resreved us a 10 bed room for saturday 15th sept, so far just us 5 in it but will take another 5 for those that want to come, although if only 5 of us they may put us in another dormitory with other people, lets just hope there are no snoring germans!!
i will confirm numbers with them and hopefully they will allow payment on arrival, the bloke sounded ok with that. Room rates are £23/night, if your a YHA member then you get £3 reduction, breakfast £4.95 and evening meal £7.5, although we will probably opt to do that in town with a few ales.
cheers

My problem is the lack of panniers or is someone volunteering to take all the gear?
Re: Nova Mini Tour weekend to Whitby - 15/16 Sept 2012
Hi Duncan, I'm just going to take a light backpack I'm sure you could do the same, for one night including wet weather gear (possibly) you can get the weight down really low so as not to need panniers.

Think I'm going to use a 1950's style saddlebag for our little adventure.
Rich - will they let me into the local discotheque with my cleats on??

I'm in, reserve a bunk for me! Why don't we put our stuff in one box and parcelforce to the YHA, then pack it back up & Parcelforce it back? Keep it light and it wouldn't cost much each? I'll happily organise if people want to drop stuff off at mine?
Re: Nova Mini Tour weekend to Whitby - 15/16 Sept 2012
That's why we pay you, to have good ideas like that! Count me in.

Guys, right then, so far we have:
Me, Franko, Andy, Mantis, Pete, Duncan and Simon (7 total). i understand Big M is going to ride over with us but wont be staying (is that correct big man - cycle show star!), not heard from Greg...any ideas anyone? Whitby YHA have resevered a 10 dorm room for us (only one left) - payment on arrival. If you want to do the kit drop idea, whitby YHA address is; Whitby YHA, Abbey House, East Cliff, Whitby, North Yorks, YO22 4JT, although as i have bought some panniers i feel as if i need to get some use out of them and i like the idea of Simons retro saddle bags!! anyway, i'll leave that with you all.

Thanks for organising this Rich.... I'm really looking forward to it
What's the consensus then, are we going to post stuff on as per Mantis's post or do we want to carry our own kit? Would seem silly to have half of us weighed down with panniers etc & the other half on 15lb race bikes??

It's either post or take a very small rucksack with toothbrush, lightweight strides and top. Either way it's my best bike.
