Sportive options

Post by BigMike » Fri Jun 10, 2011 10:23 am

Chaps,

With the pain of the tour of Wessex now subsiding slightly and my now ever increasing waistline I feel the need to book in a few more summer challenges, below is a list of good looking sportives I am eyeing up, any interest?

25th June – Ron Kitching challenge ride and sportive – 150km – York (start and finish at festival of cycling in York!)

10th July – Tour of the Black Mountains - Abergavenny – 120 miles (part of a festival of cycling)

31st July – Cross Pennine 100 – Clitheroe 100 miles

7th Aug – Ryedale Rumble – 110m – Ampleforth OR Brecons 100 (same date) tough sportive through Brecon beasons?

14th Aug – York 100 – wolds based ride 100 miles

Any takers?

I must admit I do fancy the Ryedale Rumble, but it would depend upon my 25 and 50 times at that point as there is one of each that weekend and so is unlikely for me. I am up for the Chemo Classic in sunny November though.

I did the York 100 last year. Its a very fast fast route, with only 1 real climb. Its very much a charity ride though - theres no timing. Other than that well organised with very good food stops (for those of us that actually stop on 100 mile rides!)

I'm in for Rumble 2. Let's have a few slower ones in now. It can get lonely out there.

I might. What exactly is it?
Still a novice really but I'll do anything at a pace.

A sportive. A mass participation timed event (not race (yeh right!)).
This one's based out of Ampleforth and take in the North York Moors.
Rumble 2 is the middle distance event. More info at http://www.ryedalerumble.co.uk/
