Records tumble on the A168!

Event number 5 in the Beech House Dental Practice Time Trial League was the A168 15-mile time trial (TT). This was to be the night for the aero machines.
The course starts from Boroughbridge, heading south to the Walshford roundabout where riders return north to Boroughbridge. The weather was mild with a moderate wind from the north.
16 male riders signed on from Harrogate Nova, Moonglu and Harrogate Tri Club (HTC). 10 riders were in the TT category and 6 in the road bike category.
Ben Pease (Moonglu) was first male in an amazing time of 30:36, smashing his own record by 76 seconds – his new TT set-up is definitely working! Next fastest was Joe Turnbull (Nova) on a TT bike in 31:40, beating Dylan Flesher’s 2016 Junior record by 133 seconds – a stellar performance! Third place was taken by Aiden Adams (Nova) on a TT bike in 33:06. Congratulations also go to James Beagley (Nova) who recorded 35:55 on a road bike, breaking his own schoolboy record by 40 seconds!
Everyone said the return leg was tough into a headwind but despite this the times were impressive.
Thanks to the support team who enable each event to take place – timekeepers, number-takers, signage, and marshals. A particular thanks go to Margaret and Vaughan Caswell, Richard Stott, Warren Considine & Paul Coyle. Please contact Duncan Mullier if you are able to help in any way, for future events.
The next event is the 19-mile hilly time trial on 7th June, starting from Ripley and heading up to Darley and back. Pictured are Ben Pease and Joe Turnbull in action.
