Long standing club member John Tiffany celebrated a significant milestone at the weekend. Other members of the ‘old men’s group’ (all genders welcome) decided we couldn’t let it pass unnoticed.

The rides from Bilton, every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday are impromptu and on Saturday we ended up at Thomas’s cafe in Acomb where a specially made cake in club colours was revealed, much to John’s surprise. Fortunately it had survived the 25 mile journey hidden in a saddlebag more or less unscathed.
The return was via Beningborough where we had more tea but decided we were already fully ‘caked up’ for the day.
So it’s ‘Happy Birthday’ to John, who continues to eat up the miles (and cake) and compete at a high level. In fact, his next race is the National ’10’ on Sunday. And thanks to him for being a good sport on Saturday, making it a day to remember together with Tony Kent, Steve Clarkeson, Jeff Hutton and Ian Willis.
PS If you want to know what the milestone was, the clue is on the cake.
