Neil pips Roger for the win!

Event number 14 in the Beech House Dental Practice Time Trial League was the 9-mile route starting at Farnham crossroads, heading up golf club hill on the A6065 towards Minskip, turning left towards Staveley and back to the start. Riders had ridden the same course in May so it was an opportunity see if they had improved through the season. The weather was warm and dry at around 20 degrees Celsius with a 12mph breeze from the west so riders would have a tailwind on the open sections of the A6065 and then a headwind as they turned at Minskip towards Staveley. 11 riders from Harrogate Nova and Moonglu set off at 1-minute intervals. The fastest rider on the night was Neil Fearn in a time of 21:54 – he’d opted to use a road bike for this undulating course. Neil managed to pip Roger Bromiley by just 2 seconds who recorded a time of 21:56 on his TT bike. 3rd place was Rob Senior on a road bike in 22:16 and in 4th place was Liam Evans on a TT bike in 22:42. Simon Ketteringham and his son Mark went head-to-head with Simon producing a time of 23:19 for 5th place and schoolboy Mark a sterling time of 24:18. Lynda Wilson was 1st lady in 26:59. Thanks go to Liam Evans who set up signage on course, to Duncan and Caroline Mullier for timekeeping, Barry Martin for number taking and to Walter Busuttil and Walter Wilkinson for marshalling. Next week’s event is the 9-mile loop route from Milby to Cundall, Norton-le-Clay and back. With only 3 events remaining and the best 7 results counting, riders will be trying to earn as many points as they can to rank the highest in the league.
