A fallen tree halts the event!

Event number 9 in the Beech House Dental Practice Time Trial League was the 12-mile route from Kirby Hill heading north up the A168 to Dishforth, turning west towards Sharow and then onto the Ripon ring-road with a left past Ripon racecourse heading east and thus returning to the start. Although the course is undulating, it is still fast so quick times were expected. There had been smatterings of rain in the late afternoon but in the end as the riders gathered at the start, the weather was warm with a light breeze. The riders all set off without any issues however unbeknown to them a surprise would await them with just 2 miles to go, outside the Black A Moor inn. Quite randomly, a large tree had fallen across the whole width of the B6265. The event was halted, and the results would not count for event #9. Thanks once again to Margaret and Vaughan Caswell for setting up, Caroline Mullier for timekeeping, and Seb Shepley for marshalling. Event number 10 is the 15-mile TT from Boroughbridge to Walshford roundabout and back.
