Race abandoned

The 7th event in the 2022 Beech House Dental Practice Time Trial League was meant to be 2 laps of the Langthorpe, Boroughbridge, Kirby Hill, Skelton loop. The weather was warm with a light north-westerly wind meaning a head wind out to the Black-a-Moor pub and then a tailwind back to the start/finish line in Langthorpe. Only 9 riders managed to start until rider #10, Ben Pease had an unfortunate collision with a vehicle outside the Fox and Hounds pub, only 200m from the start. The race was immediately halted. The police and ambulance were called, and Ben received treatment on the road. Thankfully Ben’s injuries are not too severe. He will be in theatre today for an operation on his knee. Other than that, he has cuts and bruises. Our thoughts are with Ben and his family at this time. We wish him a speedy recovery. Thanks to Margaret and Vaughan Caswell for setting up, Mike Hudson for timekeeping and not forgetting the all-important marshals who volunteer. Next week’s event is the 25-mile TT on the A168.
