Bright First Home at Scotton for the second year running!

The 17th annual Scotton 100, this year Prompted by York Cycleworks for the first time, is a 100 kilometers of off road sections linked by tarmac around Ripley, Brimham, Dishforth and Aldwark and took place on last Sunday with a full field of 100 riders. This event can throw up anything from freezing conditions and quagmires of mud to dusty dry and hot  This year it was like a perfect blue summer’s day as the riders left Staveley to confront the dry and fast off-road sections. It was a hectic start with two riders crashing on the first offroad section at Copgrove and the pull up through the Ripley estate thinned the lead group out. Rocks on the hardest section at Brimham caused further mechanical casualties. Conditions after Ripon were flat, dry and fast and it just remained for the riders to hang on to the pace until the final tough section into Arkendale and the road sprint back to Staveley. It ended for the second year in a bunch sprint with Nova’s Paul Lehan scenting victory but going just too early enabling club mate, Jonty Bright, to sneak past and be the first home for the second year running! All proceeds of the event went to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Full results http://results.smartiming.co.uk/view-race/scotton1002017/
