Nutcracker Altura XC MTB, Round 1, 20-Mar-16

Round 1 of the Nutcracker Altura XC MTB series took place in Whinlatter Forest, the UK’s only mountain forest in the heart of the Lake District National Park.  Edwyn Oliver-Evans took first step on the podium in the Expert event, mastering the man-made trails with their constant up or down gradients and Lake District slate where heavy duty tyres were required to avoid punctures.

Charles Cuss placed 32nd in the Sport event, with Tim Evans finishing 18th in the Grand Vet event.

Teesdale CRC 21-mile TT (Sporting Course) 20-Mar-16

Glen Turnbull claimed 6th place at the Teesdale CRC 21-mile “hilly” event, completing the T244/1 (Staindrop-Raby Castle-Staindrop-Gainford-Staindrop) course in 49:23.

YH Training Spring Twilight Series – Race 3 22-Mar-16

Using the ride out from Harrogate to York as a warm up, Edwyn Oliver-Evans and Harry Brook-Dobson went head to head in 2/3/4/ race at the YH Training Spring Twilight Series at York Sport Cycling Circuit.  Getting into an early break, Harry drove the pace to keep the bunch at bay, while Edwyn bided his time before slipping away from the pack and bridging to the front with only a few laps remaining.  An unfortunate heavy landing/saddle breaking/skin suit trapping incident prevented Harry from making the most of his sprint, finishing in 9th place, two places behind Edwyn in  7th.

City RC (Hull) 10-mile TT 25-Mar-16

James Gullen, Pedal Heaven RT, took the win at the traditional Good Friday City RC (Hull) 10-mile event on the V718 (South Cave-North Ferriby-South Cave) course, in an impressive 17:51.  Duncan Mullier recorded the second fastest ever Nova 10-mile time, finishing in 14th place with 19:28.  Tony Kent was DNF, puncturing after 6 miles.

Second-claim member, and reigning Evening TT League Ladies Champion, Jess Bacon (York Cycleworks), took the ladies win with a time of 22:07.  Jess was presented with the Ladies Winners Cup from Betty Phillipson, who has been a member of City RC (Hull) since its inception 50 years ago.  Congratulations Jess & Betty!
